Biology of pest in agriculture land

Basal information as biology, host plants, host specificity, LDT (lower developmental threshold = the temperature at which development ceases), SET (sum of effective temperatures = day degrees (Do) above the LDT necessary for completion of a developmental stage), morphology of immature stages and other ecological data from the life of pest are studied.

Recently solved subtopics:

Biology of Delia species (Diptera: Agromyiidae) on vegetable

(in cooperation with František Kocourek and Kamil Holý)

Biology of known pest Delia species is studied. Our first goal is the successful breeding of Delia radicum in the laboratory conditions. Recently, we have already the fourth generation of this Delia per year.

Biology of Neoglocianus maculaalba (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) on poppy

(in cooperation with Perla Kuchtová and Jan Kazda)

The poppy capsule weevil causes economical significant damages on poppy flower in the Czech Republic. We study biology, oviposit strategy, LDT, SET and also larval morphology of this pest.

Biology of Ceutorhynchus napi and C. pallidactylus (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) on Brassica

(in cooperation with Jan Kazda)

Both studied weevils are importnat pest on Brassica and cause high economical damages on it. We study biology, oviposit strategy, LDT, SET and also larval morphology of these pests.

Morphology of larvae of subfamily Ceutorhynchinae

Larval descriptions of some species for which the material is available are in progress at present: e.g., larvae of C. napi, C. pallidactylus and N. maculaalba.
