Larvae of the Curculionoidea are intensively studies in last years, however the immature stages are still poorly known. Recently, I have no specific larval project, but the studies of larval morphology are integral parts of some of my projects (see below for more details). I am currently focused mainly on accumulating larval material of the weevils. Some of the larval topics will be solved in cooperation with Rafał Gosik (Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, Lublin, Poland) who started to produce high-quality larval studies within last few years.
Recently solved subtopics:
Detailed descriptions of immature stages of Tychiini species are important for further studies on generic and subgeneric taxonomic relationships within the tribe Tychiini and subfamily Curculioninae. Larval morphology is really useful in assigning higher taxonomic levels (see Marvaldi 1997), but morphological studies within tribes or genera are also required for a complete understanding of each group (e.g. Gosik 2008; Skuhrovec 2006, 2007).
This is actually a subtopic of my current project on the Taxonomy and phylogeny of weevils of the tribe Hyperini. See above for more details.
Detailed descriptions of immature stages of Lixinae species are important for further studies on generic and subgeneric taxonomic relationships within the subfamily. Larval morphology is really useful in assigning higher taxonomic levels (see Marvaldi 1997), but morphological studies within tribes or genera are also required for a complete understanding of each group (e.g. Gosik 2008; Skuhrovec 2006, 2007).This is also actually a subtopic of my current project on the Host specificity of insect herbivores. See above for more details.
This is actually a subtopic of my current project on the Biology of pest in agriculture land. See above for more details
